St. Clement, also known as Pope Clement I, was converted to Christianity through the teaching of St. Paul and later became the Bishop of Rome. He is recognized from very early Church history as one of the first Bishops of Rome and is honored as the first Apostolic Father. St. Clement is traditionally represented by an anchor, symbolizing his martyrdom. He was bound to an anchor and cast into the sea.
