St. Jude also called Lebbeus in the Gospel of Matthew and Thaddeus in the Gospel of Mark, was the brother of James the Lesser and was an apostle of Jesus Christ. He is credited with writing the book of Jude. Jude traveled widely with Simon and visited Arabia, Syria and Mesopotamia during his lifetime. Jude is represented by an inverted cross, lance, and club because tradition indicates that after being clubbed and lanced, he was crucified on an inverted cross.
