Saint Kilian (also spelled St. Killian; Irish: Cillian) was an Irish missionary bishop revered as the Apostle of Franconia, where he carried out his ministry in the late 7th century. He is honored as a patron saint of those suffering from rheumatism. Kilian met a martyr’s death by beheading while preaching alongside two fellow missionaries. His symbol is three missionary companions, representing steadfast faith, shared witness, and the courage of martyrs united in purpose.
